UK premium telephony regulator confirms what many had been expecting.

The Board of UK premium telephony regulator PhonepayPlus has installed Paul Whiteing as its Chief Executive, effective immediately.

Whiteing has been performing the role on an acting basis since the resignation of George Kidd in December 2008 and was previously Director of Policy and Innovation at PhonepayPlus.

Sir Alistair Graham, Chairman of PhonepayPlus, said: “The phone-paid services market presents a regulatory body with a diverse array of complex challenges.

Businesses must be able to deliver valuable, innovative services within a regulatory framework that provides certainty and where consumers can trust the services.

“No one understands these challenges better than Paul. He has provided the Board with excellent support over a number of years and, more recently, has performed the role of Chief Executive with aplomb."
