PhonepayPlus, the UK premium rate phone regulator, today welcomed the publication of Ofcom’s statement on the regulation of premium rate services (PRS). Ofcom has asked PhonepayPlus to take forward a number of the actions arising from the review, including: A mandatory registration scheme for the PRS industry; PhonepayPlus, the phone-paid services regulator, has launched an emergency procedure investigation under paragraph 8.6.1 of its Code of Practice (11th Edition, amended April 2008), following complaints from members of the public about a Virtual Chat Service called ‘Adult Sex Exchange’.
